How often and how much grease to grease an IR 2135 impact? How will know if I greased it enough? Thanks!

I assume you mean air tool oil? A couple of drops before each use, or if you are lazy like me you can get an inline oiler. I have it hooked right to the bottom of my IR 2135TiMAX. As air is pumped through the hose, some oil is dispensed and keep the tool constantly oiled. It works nicely, and I do not have to remember to put oil in each time I use it.

Use IR115 grease and a grease gun with a needle tip. You'll want to get a couple of table spoons of it in there, if you add too much it will just be sluggish at first and will come out the front of the tool but will not damage anything. Greasing shouldn't be needed until after 3 to 4 hours of actual run time.

I know this is an old thread, I did a search because so many jump the gun on "beating the dead horse" about revisited topics...

I am wondering what the difference is between the 105 and 115 IR air tool oil and grease... I have the 2135QTiMax

They are the same basic grease except the 115 isn't quite as thick so it flows through the fitting and into the mechanism better.

When I worked at the shop, I never seen anybody put grease on their IR's. :bounce:

Me either. Some asked what the hell I was doing to mine.

I open it up, clean the old grease with brake clean and lube by hand. I never used the needle grease gun incuded in the kit.

A 'couple spoons' of grease certainly seems like a lot... does anyone by chance have a pic of what the guts should look like properly lubed? I've got to do some maintenance on mine soon... feeling a little less powerful.

I go overboard with mine...........but mine outlasted the one at work that never was greased. The guy said i was being to fussy. He had to buy another one. Mine is still great! Yeah if you give it too much grease it gets sluggish, but only takes one tough bolt to blow out what it doesnt want.

You want about 10cc of grease, definitely more than a thin film.

When you tilt the gun back and forth and the metallic "clank" of the hammer is deadened, you have enough in there. This is in my IR grease instructions.
