Great A/C unit from Sears

I found a 12,000 BTU in-wall A/C unit at Sears, and the best part is that it also has heat. That wasn't on my list of things to get, but I'll take it. Alright, it is a 'remanufactured", but I think in this case it just meant that someone used it for a while, they returned it without the box, instructions, or side curtains. It's a $500 unit. I picked it up for $199. What a deal.

So, when you are looking for A/C unit;s don't pass up the Sears web site. I checked the scratch and dent Sears stores int he area, but they didn't have anything. This came out of a regular store, luckliy the closest one to me.

Good deal.....If yer putting that in to cool your garage/shop, you'll love it. Mine's kicking along at 79* over here in Tampa

Do you have the same unit? I was able to get 75 degs after it ran all day for a couple days. Since then, the garage has been cooler, even though I haven't run it at all. I do kinda miss the ability to set a temperature, and let the unit turn itself on and off to maintain that temp. This unit appears to cycle the compressor based on the temp knob, but the fan runs continuously. Is that you take on it, of did I miss something?

Mine is a Fridgidaire that I picked up from car54 here on the site. It's 12k btu.

I'm willing to bet that a unit that retailed for 5 bills would have some features on it.....drop the model number into google and you'll be able to check out a manual.

Mine has two AC functions: One causes the fan to run constantly, while the compressor cycles on and off (this could have someone thinking the AC never shuts off, but it does.....the blower just keeps moving air). The other cycle, (the one I use), is called Energy Saver. The compressor cycles on and off just like the first setting, but the fan runs for a few minutes after the compressor cycles off, then stops altogether....saving some on the power bill.
