Last year I bought an 8" Grizzly Bench Grinder through Amazon to use when I was ready to polish the bright trim on the Dodge.

Anyways I had it about 10 months and only used it a few times before I really needed it to do the trim. Sure enough I get about 1/3 of the trim done and it craps out ( Made in China ).

I call Grizzly and the tech says he will send me a new starting capacitor, so I said alright I'd put it in. When I got home that night he had left me a message saying they were out of stock and that I'd have to pack it up and send it back to them.

I call them the next day to see what my options were and the guy said they were out of stock on the grinders and the next shipment was due in about 4 weeks.

I told the guy why I bought it and that I couldn't afford to lose 4 weeks extra to get the car on the road, I asked him if I could get my money back, so he goes and checks with someone , comes back and says to send it back to them and they would send me back my money. Great!

So I packed it up, shipped it out (25.00) wow. Anyways in the mean time I had ordered a new Dewalt and had it the next day.

I received a nice letter from them stating that I would be receiving what I had paid for the Grizzly in full including the shipping cost, plus they were going to reimburse me the 25.00 to ship the Grizzly back to them.

That my friend in my book is fantastic customer service and the way they handled the situation I would not hesitate buying from them again or just speaking highly of them.

Sorry for the length of this.

It's nice that they took care of you but it goes back to what I've been saying for years - the best warranty in the world still doesn't get the job done.

I'd skip that also-made-in-China Dewalt and order a Baldor buffer - you won't be sending that one back anytime soon...

Often, someone offers me an extended service contract that costs a third as much as the item.

My standard reply is that if they are that sure it will break down, I shouldn't buy it in the first place.
