After several months of aggrivation because of some poor Gearwrench Customer service over some ratchets my son purchaced the matter is finally resolved. Steve (gearwrench Brand on this forum) not only replaced my sons ratchets with new ones but also threw me in a few Gearwrench Roto Ratchets as a bonus. My son is extremly happy he now has new ratchets and I'm happy I have two new roto ratchets to add to my arsenal. Steve had asked if I would like to have several roto ratchets and I told him I would rather he replace my sons ratchets. Steve sent both. Now I can go out and buy some more Gearwrench with confidence. Thanks Steve

Thats great to hear that they finally came through with flying colors.

I have been planning on picking up some gearwrench ratchets for my brother's birthday that's coming up. I just wasn't to impressed with the warranty, but I'm glad that it was finally straightened out.

Whew...it wasn't over a week before your bad experience that I got a set of 3 flex head ratchets. So far, I'm enjoying the sh*t out of them!

Glad to hear you think they aren't so bad

I always liked the tools. It was just the warranty I had issues with. I think it's great that Steve resolved that issue. Makes me look forward to more gearwrench purchaces. I came home form my shop today and found the box from Apex on my doorstep. It's nice when a company recognizes there is a problem and actually does something about it.

Those roto's are nice, I ordered some a while back and was surprised of the quality. I've used them many times since, usually grab them first.

so what can you suggest for the average schmuck to do when their gearwrench tool breaks and it was bought from cripe/ebay/etc....

Squeaky wheel gets the grease, eh?
Glad they came through with the replacements +++++.
I don't pull hard on the wrenches anymore, but love tools and the groups who still have to make a living using them.
Yes,,, I'm an old broken down fart, but I still respect the men today pulling on the handles to make a living for their families. mc

I really hope that they have the warranty issues resolved for everyone. I noticed on the package that the ratchets came in it has Lifetime Warranty right on the package. My advice for anyone that has a problem is to express their experiance with others on a public forum. If nobody ever complains then even the company may never know whats going on. My hope is the warranty issue is resolved for everybody. They have to know there are dealers selling tools on ebay that arn't available in other places. I'm just happy they resolved my problems. My son is happy, I'm happy.

GW haven't done anything to resolve the warranty issues, they just did what should have been done MONTHS ago. Until GW ditch Fastenal there will continue to be problems.

Do you really want to have to go through all this hassle again? I still don't think I'll buy anymore, unless it's a super deal. If I need an item warrantied I don't want to have to go through months of complaining on a forum before it's taken care of.

I agree with you on this. Why was it necessary for someone from Gearwrench on GJ to intervene on OP behalf to get this taken care of? Sounds like piss poor customer service for the other 99% of the Gearwrench owners.

Steve also intervened in my case, but the day he messaged me on here was about the same day the Fastenal finally pulled their head out of their *** & told me my new ratchet was waiting for me to pick it up.

Great news. So what are you going to ***** about next?

Probably his truck overheating because the radiator is plugged with fur:lol_hitti

Anyways back to topic it's interesting how cheap some folks can be bought off. If I'd had to go thru' that much BS to get a ratchet warrantied I'd be done with the company even if they threw in freebies.

I'm glad you finally received the service you deserved, but it seems that the warranty problems from Gearwrench in it's entirety as a company have not been solved only an individual dealer/representative on this forum decided to help you out, which is great and shows integrity from "Steve" but little from Gearwrench. Many of these dealer's or brand specific members on this forum don't actually "officially" represent the company's they work or sell for, they represent them selves as an employee or franchisee etc of such and such company. Even so I am very grateful and appreciate all the help and knowledge they share on this forum. I don't quite remember the exact scenario in which your warranty was denied but let's hope eventually Gearwrench get's the message.

I havent been bought off. I asked him to resolve a problem and he did it. It took much longer than it should have and I had to complain way to much. I hoping the warranty issues have been resolved. If I ever have another issue with warranty it will be the same thing all over again X2. The thing about me is not only will I ***** when Ive been hosed I'll also man up and mention when my problem has been resolved. I'm sure Maning up isn't a concept that you are very familiar with. They backed up the warranty like they should have. The two extra ratchets were nice but I would have written up about the problem being resolved had they not been sent. I took it as "here is a little extra for the hassle". Ive had customers that came in that the tech got a spot of grease on the seat. I sent the car down and had it detailed for their inconveinance. It's just good customer relations. The fact of the matter is that I like Gearwrench tools. I've stood by that since my first complaint. I'm not going to continue to bash them after they resolved a problem. If I ever have another warranty issue with them I'm done with them.

The remark about my radiator plugged with Fur is a prime example of a childlike remark from the mind of a 10 year old. You should trying growing up.

I certainly agree with ditching Fastenel. They are like a fungus to Gearwrench. I don't think Gearwrench could have picked a worse place to warranty their tools

No I don't want to have to go through it all over again. Most of what I've bought I bought on sale at 1/2 price and so on. I'm sure there will come a time sometime in the future when I have to have another tool warrantied. I'll have a pretty good idea then if the warranty issues have changed of it was just the squeaky wheel getting the grease. Until then I'll give them the benifit of the doubt.

Only if the warranty issues have been resolved. In my case my current issues have been resolved. I'll know more when I have to warranty the next time. I won't break a wrench just to test it. Ive never said anything bad about the tools themselves from a quality standpoint. Only time will tell. My hope is that they have done an overhaul to the warranty process. Because I'm only one person all I can speak of is my personal experiance. While it took too long to resolve my issue in the end it was resolved.

Congrats good for you, now we dont have to hear YOU whine everytime someone brings up a Gearwrench thread. I dont understand how after all the complaining, and negative posts about how gearwrench is the devil they now are god to you. I guess the whole issue just rubs me the wrong way, and I can honestly say I dont give a rats *** about your warranty opinions anymore. I have warrantied Gearwrench tools many times and never had an issue, but at the same time if I get it from ebay I am smart enough not to tell them that. I know you are a well respected senior member of this forum, but I have a feeling I am not the only one out there with these thoughts. Congrats on the roto heads.

Good to hear the warranty issue for your son's ratchets is resolved.

It never stops depressing me how loud mouthed, rude and brazen individuals can be sitting behind their keyboard. Threads like this make me want to keep my kids off forums like this, despite all the productive information found therein. More than half of this thread is people piping up and being disrespectful. I don't want my kids thinking that these sorts of remarks are appropriate, even among "the guys". If they'd start talking like this in real time, face to face, they'd get thier *** kicked for sure.

I have a few gearwrench tools, and I asked Fastenal *IF* I had a problem with them, could he handle the warranty, as I was not close to the dealer where I got them.
1st he said yes, then he said I would be better off going to sears, as It would take him a long time or something like that.
I don't personally, but the company I work for spends thousands through Fastenal.
Thanks,
Tony

I tried Sears first, they will only warranty the GW tools they carry (apparently) & at the time they didn't carry the ratchet I had that crapped out. That's why I had to deal with Fastenal.

Boy do you ever have a misconception of reality. I posted all the negetive experiance with Gearwrench. When they finally made it right I posted that as well as it's only fair. never said they were the Devil and always said I liked the tools themselves. I just complained about the the warranty. In my case the made it right. If my warranty issues rubbed you the wrong way Tough ****. I posted the bad and the good. It's only fair. If I kept pounding them in the dirt after they resolved my issue that would just make me a stupid ******* like some members here. Screw me over and I'll tell the world, fix the problem I'll tell that as well. If you feel it in your best interest to lie where you buy your tools in order to get them warrantied more power to you. I bought the tools new for my son and not at some yard sale. They just happen to come from a dealer off of ebay. That shouldn't have made any differance. I'm not on here preaching to go out and buy Gearwrench. As for myself I fell a little safer buying them but still a little gun shy about pulling the trigger on a major gearwrench purchace.

As for me I personally like to hear other peoples experiance when it comes to warranty. My initail post was because Gearwrench did me wrong on the warranty. I knew it, they knew it and I let others know about it. If nobody complains nothing ever gets fixed. My ******* and moaning may have paved the way for your next Gearwrench warranty claim. If my post bother you so much there is an ignore option readily available to you.

Really glad the issue is resolved already.

Just much happier now that I purchased these wrenches below after drooling for the kit for quite some time. If I have a warranty issue then I can send it back to the States knowing that this will be taken cared of.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000T8WFBU/?tag=atomicindus08-20

that seems like a pretty good price, Those long ones are nice.
You can get that and the SAE set for around $215.00
Thanks,
Tony

there are a lot of whiners in this board LOL

I'll remind you of that the next time some company hoses you and you post about it. I may have pissed, moaned, complained and dug my heals at every oppertunity but in the end I got results. If you rather bend over and let some company **** **** you out of whats rightfully yours that up to you. Thats the easy ***** way out. Just sit back and take it. I don't roll like that

Oh I hear ya, I thought it was BS. Just a Cop Out.
Sears don't as far as I know even carry the 1/4" swivel set I have.
Don't really need anything warranted right now,
I got the 1/4" swivel set at Hill International, he might take care of the other set I have (I did buy it off some one here) if need be, I am not 100% sure. I know they do sell the 1/4" kit I got, but it is double what I paid here.
Thanks,
Tony
