Well the recall came down for most of the Great Neck junk. I love looking at the shelve and not seeing those horrible tools. Sadly though, their replacements will be on the truck tomorrow.
Great Neck is gone...... for now

Recalled for lack of sales mostly. I don't know what is replacing them. I have not seen the new labels. Probably just another version of Great Neck though.

That's sad, Great Neck wasn't that bad for odd automotive tools. Actually, around here the only brand of automotive tools. The only place I've ever seen different is online sources
I have a chrome 1-1/8" Great Neck socket that I had to buy one day to remove my hitch ball in a pinch. And I must say I am surprised it is still alive. Mostly because I wrapped it in electrical tape (so i didnt get chrome shrapnel in my face) and put it on my impact, and have used it probably a few dozen times the same way. And yet, it still lives.

I've used a few Great Neck tools in the past. They are definitely not the quality you want in a tool but in a pinch they will work.
I think it would be even more hilarious if they ended up being replaced by Craftsman now that Sears is hoing them out.

Titan is too classy for the zone
My experience with Titan tools is limited, but what I have used has been on par with Great-neck.
I would like to see Autozone, or Advance, or any major store become a FULL Gearwrench distributor.

I've used the Great Neck tools without any issues. They probably weren't selling as good as "The Zone' thought, so they recalled them. pretty soon you'll start seeing them on ebay as "dealer closeouts" or something like that.

wow you guys just now did the reset?
before i left we reset the tools and all but maybe 5 products were replaced with the duralast rebranded version(same junk though)
that was maybe 3 months ago or more
and for anyone that doesnt know.....other than the sockets,ratchets,good screwdrivers,and main tools everything else is just rebranded great neck so dont be fooled

Yeah, we just got it monday. But we are a smaller store ($40k/week) and non-commercial.
The Autozone I was in today actually had a few Titan combo wrench sets.

Duralast socket sets are made by great neck as noted by the warranty card. Makes sense, because as far as I know duralast doesn't make a single thing, be it auto parts or tools. Willing to bet there is no such thing as a "duralast factory" and everything is rebranded, just like napa-balkamp.
"good screw drivers" is also a misnomer.

It would be sweet if they stocked those hooks with SK tools. But I'm betting that's not the case.
Great Neck must have been branded their name onto some better manufacturer for some of their tools as I have a 1/4" socket set ( blow case ASE/Metric[4-12mm no skips]) which is well made and has lasted me at least 15 years.

I have the same set stamped "duralast" (great neck) and was attracted to the no skips (minus 1/2 metric sizes like 4.5) for the price. They work well with my impact, in daily use.
Then again, there is hardly ever room to be impressed with 1/4 drive, so long as it fits. Don't really apply enough torque in normal use, and easily stepped up to 3/8 or 1/2 drive when the going gets tough.
Craftmen "evolve" would even easily fit the bill.

I went to one of my local Autozone's today and they had already switched over to all the cheaper Great Neck stuff that is labeled Duralast.
I'm glad I got what I got when I did, but no more Snapalast for me I guess.......

That has been done a long time ago. Probably since the beginning.
The set I bought 4 months ago clearly has a great neck warranty registration card and tools stamped "duralast".
There wasn't anything special about them before, and nothing has changed so far as I can tell. Cheap. That's it.
Evolve woulda worked just as well, so would HF. They just don't carry all of the same stuff or have gaudy handles.
OEM is also great neck as well.
I mean they replaced all the pear head style ratchets with round heads that are obviously more cheaply made. The ratchets I bought had Great Neck warranty cards too. The Autozone's around my area still had all the old pear heads up until about a week ago. There is one 1/2" palm control style that I might check out.
