Great neck warranty?

Seeing the other topic about greatneck reminded me that I have a broken great neck ratchet laying around somewhere.

The great neck website requires a receipt to return broken tools.
But what about autozone?
That seems to be the place most people get the stuff replaced.
Can I just walk in with it and get it replaced?

The tools **** and the warranty ***** IMO. Bought a C-clamp that stripped out the main screw part and I used it exactly twice to push in brake caliper pistons when doing brake jobs. Needed a reciept which is in fine print or no even there on the package to use the warranty. Autozone told me to pound sand as well as Great Neck when I called them. No problem I told them, no more sales for you from me.

I took it to autozone yesterday, and they where happy to replace it.
No problem at all, and no mention of a receipt.

It's no snap on, thats for sure, and its a bit stiff.
But, it'll be fine for a spare.

Whats wrong with using C-Clamps to compress the piston? I know they make special fitting plates but i still dont see the problem

Some people are just out for a power trip at Autozone. One side of town is fine and dandy but the other side can be just flat out rude.

There is no problem but why not do it right. Why use a clamp where a press shoule be used. Here are some better options

Even though autozone is considered to be just a discount parts store to a lot of people the dudes there are pretty helpful usually I have pretty good luck with them and ive always bought automotive tools there as i needed them to fix myself and familys vehicles and never had a problem warranteeing any of it

p.s. Everyone knows that a C clamp can be used to push in a caliper piston unless its a multi piston caliper

Its essentially the same thing, Im not disputing there is a proper tool that gives you a more uniform push but....... Let me tell you how the cow eats the cabbage at my house. I use a C-clamp on personal vehicles... LOL Thanks for showing the pics.. Ive never seen the pistol grip type.

Yeah.. I also know Snap on secretly makes ratchets for Duralast.

I also use a C-clamp to compress the brake caliper piston but I take the old brake pad and put it in between the C-clamp and piston so it applies equal pressure just like your specialty tools.

the local autozone replaces the great neck with duralast...as they stoped carrying great neck ratchets. but usally only for known customers.

I use a C clamp for brakes. I bought a specialty tool once, and it didn't work at all. I think part of it was in the way or something. That was years ago. I took it back. I guess there are ones that work better than the one I bought.
