I built my garage 7 years ago with very little help ( took me over 16 months) I learned about local codes first, drew up my plans by myself and had them checked by a friend who is a registered design engineer. I even surpased the local codes and added huracaine straps. I enjoyed this experience very much and saved over 10 k on construction. My garage is approx 22 wide and 32 deep with a double roll up door for 2 cars in the front and a second door in the rear to alow back yard access. I will soon post some pictures.
