So my adult children both need a desktop PC for themselves and for their family. I have been shopping eBay and have found what I consider some real bargains !
About 4 years ago HP brought out a line of smaller desktop towers, the TG01-xxxx. Multiple models. More or less memory. M.2 NVME SSD if various sizes. Most had integrated graphics but some had a low end video card (Radeon RT 5500 or NVIDIA RTX 3060) and called them "gaming" computers. The point is, even if you buy a strip down model, these are easily upgradeable at low cost (the power supply is a whim, so skip the high end video cards). These start at $200-$300 used, but there are people trying to sell "new, in box" for over $1000 ! Stick with AMD processors. Decent integrated graphics and easily upgradeable.
The newer model is the TP01-xxxx. It came out about 2 years ago and is almost identical, but uses faster memory. Same thing. $200-$300 used, over $1000 "new, in box".
The AMD Ryzen 5300G has 4 cores, the 5500G has 6 and the 5700G has 8 cores. Check online reviews. The 5700G, by itself, makes a decent entry level gaming machine with adequate memory.
