Since I can't swing foam insulation. Can I use the great stuff cans and just put it at base of steel on bottom and seams and such. Thanks

Yes - you can use those cans to seal up seams and joints. You'll use quite a few cans so make sure you do the math before ruling out spray foam. Also be aware that those cans have expiration dates on them... double check before buying huge lots. Spraying the joints or seams will prevent drafts but you'll still want to put up styrofoam or batt insulation.

First, there are other options other than the small cans of foam. There are kits available in many sizes. Not sure how much you need but generally, the larger the "can", the lower the price per foot.

Secondly, and I am not sure your climate conditions and requirements but you can also put a layer of foam board against the metal and then your fiberglass. You can then tape the foam boards or spray foam the edges to completely seal it.

1/2" stryrofoam sheets are about 8 bucks at lumber yards. Check with your building inspector to find out if this would be an approved method in you area. They would have the definitive answer for your region and conditions.

Smaller spray foam kits...

??? What answer are you looking for? If is about moisture condensing between the metal and fiber glass, it shouldn't be a problem if you put up a sealed vapor barrier on the heated side of the insulation..

Wish there was a definitive answer on bat fiberglass insulation touching the outside metal wall

I've worked a handful of buildings with steel sheeting and the vinyl faced insulation and helped a friend build a 50x100 with it and have seen no issues with the fiberglass touching the steel.

Plan is to use r19 bats and vapor barrier on inside under the drywall. Used some great stuff tonightt for the base where the wall meets the channel. Got 4 sections per can. Should be able to do what I want sealed for under 30 bucks. That will keep moisture from coming up from bottom.

I've used both the pink and blue foam sheets between studs and sealed them in with Great Stuff.. For piecemeal work like I was doing at the time on my project, it made more sense than getting a larger kit..
