This is my garage in Athens, Greece. It took me aboutone year to find a suitable place and 2 years to make it into a proper garage. its an ongoing project and I keep adding equipment.
It started as a 100 year old small stone house with a yard and a well. It was later demolished, covered with a tin roof and made into a machine shop. Later it became a ceramic factory, until i bought the place.
This is what it looked like in 2008.
The left wall was actually made of stone, but covered with plaster. The stucco was taken down and each stone wire-brushed and varnished. The right wall was made from very brittle mud bricks, so a new wall was built in front of it with Alfablock bricks.
The floor was filled with cement with correct gradient, so all water ends up in the central siphon. The ramp was widened and smoothed. The floor was then covered with industrial grade reinforced plastic flooring, that came in 2 meter wide rolls.
The horrible bathroom was remade completely.
The metal structure was painted pale blue, but the big metal beams ware cleaned and varnished. I liked the rusty look.
A series of shelves and work benches were installed as well as furniture and posters. All furniture was found in the streets around Athens.
The metal door was covered with a 2mx4m canvas depicting the Alfa Romeo racing works circa 1968.
Lately I installed a scissor type lift.
A general view
Needless to say that I try to spend as much time as possible in there, tinkering, rebuilding and cleaning my cars and scooters.
