Guyz,
I recently did a Search on the Green Hinge product and came across a 2015 thread on this fine Forum. You folks said some kind things about them then. I'll be upfront and say that I do work with Lester, the inventor, so I wanted to update you on some changes. I initially did a search on this site, but there's such a depth of info, even just by searching under the word "Green" would've kept me reading for DAYS! So I decided to write a new post.
Green Hinges are still numbered from bottom to top, 1 thru 3 or 4 or 5 or whatever, depending on how many panels your doors have? They still work just as well at sealing your garage doors. Being the smart DIY'r kinda guyz you are, you will understand that they don't work miracles! IF your seals are in decent shape and adjusted properly, the Green Hinge springs will push your panels against the seals on either side of the door as your door drops into position on the tapered track. You still will need to properly adjust the doors top adjustable bracket so the doors seal on all four sides. IF your bottom door seal has gotten stiff or sacked out, spray it with some silicone spray, pull it out and insert one of those foam, gap fillin' weatherstripping ropes to give the old seal a little more bounce.
You should now have your door sealing about as well as is possible. The good news is that you won't have to keep adjusting it as temps change and cold and UV causes your seals to stiffen and be less responsive.
If you spend as much time in your garage as I do (and you are members of this forum!) you'll enjoy the energy savings, less door rattlin', cleaner environment that Green Hinges will give you. We just returned from the recent Ace Hardware convention where we learned that they'll be added to all of their 14 warehouses nationwide. That will take some time to get them out to all the 4,200 stores, so IF you are interested check them out online at:Greenhingesystem.com
Thanks for your time.
