My snappy guy has a 3/8" dr green on his truck right now. I asked about a 1/2" dr and he said he recalls them having them on promo a while back. Also said there's some other colours coming out soon for a promo but he wasn't able to get ahold of the all black one that I would have been interested in. Other colours I remember were purple and some metallic colours.

My favorite color! Almost all my tools will be green. I want a green toolbox.

thats one reason I never really cared for their impacts, its all painted and doesnt take much for them to start to look like ****.

The old impact guns were aluminum (I've got an IM5100). They didn't paint those, because there was no need.

The MG725 and that family are magnesium cased. The magnesium reacts badly with air, so they need to be painted. Unfortunately just a little scratch through the paint will cause oxidation that makes the paint flake off.
That's what you lose, but the magnesium is lighter than the aluminum, and nobody wants to slug around an unnecessarily heavy tool.

when they hit the ground it will crack the paint. especially those guys that toss them around like a used shop rag.

When they hit anything, the paint comes off. The first thing to go is the enamel on the lettering regardless of how you treat it, then eventually the rest goes. I've never seen an MG series impact in a shop environment that had its paint intact. It wouldnt surprise me if they go to a composite housing (like everyone else) for their next impacts.

The 1/2 has an IR grip, but he says its Snap On, so it must be a Blue Point. They don't seem to be on their website any more, but a few years ago IIRC you could buy a re-badged IR2135 from SO.
