ITGuy1998 -

I used a portable band saw, Makita that has a 4 7/8" throat for notch. Never had much success w/ recip saw as my cuts always stray. Took a 24" wood auger bit on the corners and dewalt sds hammer drill w/ drill attachment and then drove rebar through all four corners to hold in place. Simple as that.

The plastic was in place just to retard the weeds underneath and later trimed inside to allow root access to ground soil. Native soil is slick, hard, clay and just scarified the top, threw 2" gravel base for drain and then soil w/ periodic mix of perlite for beds.

Put on some headphones, put the portable band saw on "auto" and went through about 100 cuts perched on saw horse.

Tip: Carry the cut wood to placement site, as opposed to moving off horse to ground and then moving yet again. One man show here, and beams started to feel bigger as time went.
