Hi everyone,

The names Drew, and it looks like I'm the new guy around town. My wife and I are in the process of buying our first home, and I want a garage like Mark Hamill wants an acting job. The only problem that I can foresee is that we are buying a home in a historic district of Columbus, Ohio. So I know the hysterical society, I mean historical society will probably fight me tooth and nail over the d*mn thing. Whatever. So I'm basically here to get as much info as I can, and see if I can't steal a few ideas from you guys.

A little about myself, I've been married for three years, I am a full-time student (Audiology), and I work for a non-profit organization here in Columbus. I seem to have a lot of different hobbies, but mostly I enjoy guns, fine cigars, cars, motorcycles, Scotch, art, and a bunch of other stuff. I recently learned sign language as I thought I wanted to be an ASL interpreter, but decided I wanted to be an Audiologist instead, so I started the seven year path towards my Au.D. Sometimes I wonder if it will be worth it, but I know in the long run it will pay off.

If you would like to know anything else feel free to ask, but be prepared for an honest, upfront answer. I won't b*llsh*t ya. Have a good evening everyone, and a good week. I'm going to go read as much as I can so I can plan this garage.

+Drew

**Cliff's notes - Name's Drew, want to build a garage, want to steal your ideas. Married for three years, like guns, cars, motorcycles, cigars, Scotch, blah blah. Thanks for letting me be a part of this place. Want to know more? Just ask.

Howdy and welcome. There was a lady attorney in Abilene here that ran up against the local hysterical society after she started re-doing her house that happened to have historic zoning. She didn't request it, POs did. Anyway - it boiled down to: "take the zoning off" "No" "Take it off or I'll bulldoze it to kindling" "You can't" "Watch me" Zoning change approved. People with money - and big yellow Cat dozers in her front yard - can do things like that. Anyway, might see if its a zone overlay or if it's something individual to the houses. Somebody else did that, maybe you can say "no thanks".
