Hi there,
just joined up, as I am close to finally starting to set up a shop space to work on my cars.
My name's Bastien and I'm a 24 year old German car-nut and hobby photographer, who runs a small blog about Car Culture in Germany and the surrounding countries (www.tiefundbreit.com)...
I used to have to wrench outside in the driveway as our existing garage was just too small and has also been partially converted into a office space.
Recently I put up an ad that I was looking for a garage or barn or something where I could wrench on my cars. A few days ago I got a call from a guy offering me a nice space. Today I finally went to look at it and wow, this fits my needs perfectly.
It's inside an old square four-sided farmyard (my best guess would be from around the late 1800s or early 1900s). I don't have exact measurements yet, but I estimate it's about 50m². And it's only 5 minutes from where I live. And it's even got an oil oven for heating!
It needs some work, but once cleaned up this should be a really nice workshop/garage. The landlord will clean it up a bit (i.e. fresh white paint on the walls, locks for the doors and such) before I 'move in' in about 3 weeks (my rent starts at the first of march).
I'll spend the time before to look around here to collect some ideas for how I want to set it up.
Here's some pictures of the space as it was today when I looked at it.
It looks a bit smaller on the pics than it is in real life.
Once I move in, I'll start a separate thread detailing what I will be doing with the space.
