Hi all,

I stumbled on this site because I am planning to remake my garage into a workshop for modest woodworking projects. It's currently a warehouse of 15 years of clutter and teacher supplies :D I live in a townhouse complex, so I have some restrictions to live by (power being my biggest concern at this point) but I'm motivated to get this done.

SG: looks like you need some shelving or take a bunch of pictures to sell some of those supplies. lots of ideas here and i'm going to make a new thread with organizing ideas someday soon so keep an eye out for it. i think i own every metal organizer made or close to it and shelving from chrome to commercial racking.

cheers and welcome

SG: here's a couple tips that might help you get a few more eyes on your thread. can you go in your GJ profile and copy and paste a link to your thread in your signature? also put in your location so members will know which part of the world you are located so your answers won't always be where do you live? and if you want to you can click on Avitar to download a picture that will come up under your handle on every post.

good luck and again welcome

Thanks, drivesitfar. Done, done and done.

I've been cruising the forums since yesterday and getting really inspired by some people's builds to get my garage completed. It looks like most people here are into autos (I can change the oil in my car but that's about it :D), but a lot of the challenges between a woodshop and a mechanic's shop are the same.

SG: funny you should say that because i'm not a "car guy" either. i found this site years ago because Google searches would always have me head here to find information on old vises and tools that i like a lot. so i joined and even though i don't know a small percentage of what some of the guys know i do ask a lot of questions and try to learn as much as i can from all of them. I bet with a few scraps some of these guys can build a 200 MPH car or maybe a rocket ship to the moon. no kidding these guys have some smarts.

anyway not sure you'll get a lot of support from the Michigan guys with your new Avitar, but happy you like it. :bounce:

have fun learning and ask questions if you need help and i'm sure you won't be the only one to benefit.

cheers

Living in Los Angeles I'm not very popular with the USC people either. My whole wardrobe is basically rock/metal t-shirts and OSU t-shirts. So I wear my colors proudly

That I will. I'm going to need a lot of help and advice to get this right and I think this will be the place to figure most of it out.

I started my Garage thread here http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5058638#post5058638

@Zeke. Thanks!

@ddawg16 I wouldn't say they bother me. Just engage is playful banter mostly. The owner of the company I work for is a big USC fan. I make sure to have my OSU gear all over my desk. Even carry around an OSU coffee cup.

Funny we should be talking about this. One of the things I have to do is determine how I'm going to get the football games in my garage. It's across the complex from my unit, but my neighbor has a wireless repeater running that we can pick up in our garages. Might just have to stream it from ESPN app or something
