With a wife and 3 kids (aged 5, 3, & newborn) and just starting a business, we thought it was a good idea to sell our home and build a house a little further north - still in the 'burbs but more rural and outer ring suburb - because why not add more to our plate!?
Anyways, with a new build and a clean slate in the garage for the first time, I stumbled across The Garage Journal while looking for inspiration.
Technically, the garage is listed as a 4-stall - it shares the footprint of a typical 3-stall and looks like it from the outside - except one of the stalls extends the full length of our house and we have 12 ft ceilings.
Our goal for the garage is to be multi-functional and an extension of our space to destress, tinker, and enjoy.
Here are the projects I've been working on and the ones we're hoping to get to soon:
- ceiling rack shelving --> was searching for ideas on this when I found GJ
- concrete floor sealer/epoxy
- folding squat rack (weight lifting)
- slat-wall tool hanging system
- installing a movable/retraceable netting system (for a batting cage)
- work bench(es), tool storage, dust collection system
- air compressor system (light to medium duty) but accessible throughout the garage and outside (back of house)
- cabinet/hockey locker style storage for kids gear
Looking forward to being here, thanks for having me!
