Hi garage fans,

I discovered this site by accident yesterday. I recently moved into a home with a two-car garage that has been bisected by a wall for an larger laundry room :headscrat.

I think this may be my last home (I'm almost 50), and I want to enlarge it to about 600 sq. ft, and raise the roof/ceiling for a lift. I am a certifiable car nut, mostly 60's Fords, and I race a Spec Racer Ford in SCCA.

I am also looking for organizing ideas for using space efficiently, too. I know from a colleague of mine with a 2000 sq. ft. shop (in addition to an attached 4-car garage :wtf:) that you can't have too much garage, but I will have to make due because of zoning, family considerations, blah, blah, blah...

I recently learned a bit about welding, so I am looking for ideas that center around doing that in the garage, too, as my car hobby would be enhanced with some fab skills.

Looking forward to learning a lot from one another!

Drew

Welcome to GJ, Drew! I'm just down the road in Santa Rosa. Sounds like we've got a lot in common. I just turned 54 and am in the process of moving to a new house with a 2-car garage. I'm gonna knock out the side wall and kick it out 8' for a little extra room. Been building muscle cars for the last 20 years but about to embark on a model T roadster project.

Thanks for the welcomes!
Evin, I will be heading out your way soon, as I have some truck parts to pick up in SR. Yeah, I am pretty "hemmed in," zoning-wise, so I don't know if I can expand much. I have, however, gotten a lot of inspiration from many on this site who have done a lot with "only" a two car garage....
