Awesome site. I'm just checking in for now but will lurk and post in time.

My garage is a converted old pole barn which has been completely re-framed/renovated, including polyiso spray foam insulation out the yazoo. Very comfortable all year round. Working on a 69 440 sixpack car and a few other projects. Looking forward to the tips I'll pick up here. Thanks for the site!

Welcome...This is a cool site from what I've seen so far. A lot of ideas , opinions & info. I'd like to see a pic of that Mopar project. BTW - I'm in sePA myself.

Thanks Scott,

The 60x60 barn has been divided into 3 areas...one area retains it's 3 horse stalls as they bring in income ($), the second area is a garage space with parts cleaner, blasting cabinet, compressor room, car lift etc, and the last area is the space where the car's being assembled. This space also has a small (6x6) binks spray booth and a big old sun tester. Picked up a used 90KBTU oil fired furnace to heat the two areas and in the process of hooking it up. In the meantime they are well insulated and not that hard to warm in the winter. Found a dozen very nice government surplus work benches and cabinets out in Mechanicsburg (Navy base) a few years back which offer excellent work surfaces and storage. Had some stainless tops made for them which really helps in keeping those areas clean.

I'm in Harleysville (19438). Where are you located and what are you up to with any garage/shop work or other projects?

Scott, I'm going to post some pics to explore how these attachments are made. I didn't realize you could attach multiple pics with one post. Not sure how big they can be if combined so here goes...

Wow, that's pretty slick. Seems like you can post all you want as long as they're all 1200x900 jpeg (under 145KB). I gotta get to work. Thanks again.

Hey,
Thanks for the pics. The car looks like it's coming along very nicely. What all are you doing to the motor ?...cam,intake ,etc ? I like the Hurst T-handle. Are you going to take it down the track when it's done or just street it ? I'm outside of Honeybrook ( about and hr or so from you ). I'm working out of a one car garage. I do all that I can out there though. My son is a Tech at a big dealership and he helps me alot too. I have a 19' boat that keeps me busy with repairs. My girlfriends son just got a 4 wheeler that I have apart now too. Do you ever go to Maple Grove Raceway ? I'm dreamin of a '69 Chevelle with a blown 572 CI motor.

Scott,

Motor is date code correct 440 bored and stroked to 493. Fully ported stock heads, 10.5 to 1 compression. Should make 500+ rear wheel HP easily on pump gas. Not looking to race this just prowl and occasionally flog. Might take it to the Grove just to check some ETs. I'd be very happy with anything under 12 though probably don't have the time, skill, nor money for multiple visits in which to launch, shift and spend my way there. Have friends which participate in F.A.S.T. which is 'Factory Appearing Stock Tire'.

http://www.fastraces.org/

It's made up of muscle cars from the 60s and 70s which must conform to some basic criteria before racing. They tour several tracks every summer. Being a business owner with limited time precludes my involvement in anything so demanding. I have enough unhealthy 'addictions' taking my time from the more important things in life without adding racing to the list. I'll be happy to drive it around town and perhaps once in awhile to the Grove.

You're lucky to have a son who can help. I also have a 23 year old who likes to use the shop and lift in our garage and sometimes help. 69 Chevelles are very cool.

Welcome to the site and cool pics, I race in the Ram Racing Naturally Aspirated Shootout series, and we normally do at least 1-2 shows a year with the guys from F.A.S.T....

I live in Delaware County (not too far south of the philly airport), and work in KOP, so not too far from Harleysville...

Again, nice car, and welcome to the site...

Bermudacat...Thanks. Car is stock original. Color is 'R4'. Everything was radical back in 69....especially the cars. This is a Superbee with the 440 six option. Just put the pin bezels on the fiberglas hood last night. Still need to adhere the 'SIX PACK' badges on the sides of the scoop. Seems like Seattle around here lately with all the rain (no offense!).

1SlowFormula...thanks. Our business is in Bridgeport, 1 minute from KoP (link to website on my avatar name). Good luck with your detached 2 car. I didn't know when signing up for a classic muscle car, or in your case a race car, that the facility to house it was just as important as the car itself. Bought the car for a pittance almost 10 years ago... then it appreciated and it and all of a sudden had to be kept in a secure place. Had to break the wife's arm to come up with the money to convert a portion of the barn to a legit finished storage/workplace. I know what you're going through.

Welcome. I'm in East Greenville and also work in the city. I've got the typical 2 car that I tinker in...nothing like your space. Welcome

Thanks Buckled,

This is a great place to share ideas. Wish I'd have found it years ago when all the construction was going on.

Having a garage of any kind is a leg up on most of the population. Good luck with your projects.

I just took a quick look at your website, I may call for a quote, one of the projects (aside from the garage) is roof work on the house/carport. including replacing the underlayment/plywood on the carport and adding a vent to the carport roof so it doesn't go out as quickly next time.

I hear you about the car thing, I have a 67 Mustang that I am restoring. Well, I like to say that but really it just sits in the back yard and one day it may get restored, but the garage will help. I also have the 95 Firebird that used to be my daily driver when I was in school, and a few years ago I started going to the drag strip with it, then one thing led to another and it came off the street and is a track only car now. But since I don't have the garage all the work is done in the back yard or in the trailer if there is enough room...

Here is the Mustang: http://www.1slowformula.com/car/mustang
Here is the Firebird (older pic, and it has been getting faster over the years):

and here are pics of my current work area when playing with the Firebird:

As you see, I need a garage...

...If you do take it up to the "Grove " , give me a heads up. I 'll try to make it up there when you're there. Remember when they used to have Mopar's at the Grove ? Racing & car show.

How did you do at the track last Sun ? I didn't make it up there. My son took his GTO to Cecil Co. Wed nite & I haven't talked to him yet either.

Scott
I got knocked out the first round with my wife, mom, and mother-in-law all watching, happy mothers day to them because that meant we wrapped it up a little early... I ran a little too fast because I was up against one of the really good guys the first round so I knew it would be tight. I race in an index class and similar to bracket racing have to come as close to that index without going faster. I slowed the car down to run in the 12.0 index and the first round I ran an 11.986 (14 thousanths of a second too fast) :shocking:

here are some vids
1st round qualifying for the index class (I got there late so I am the last car qualifying) I'm @ 8:55

2nd round qualifying, I'm @ 2:54

and 1st round eliminations I'm 50 seconds into this one

Can you believe there won't be any more Pontiacs built ? When are you going to be up at the Grove again ?
