Hi All,
My name is Rob and I'm a computer & network security engineer for a telecom company out here in the San Jose. I love almost any kind of DIYing and consider myself pretty handy. My favorite hobbies are tinkering with cars & motorcycles and I've recently started learning how make medieval armor. I also like movies, books & video games, but then I wouldn't be a true geek if I didn't, right?
It's strange that I stumbled across this site today as I'm right at the start of a garage demotion & build so I'll get to share my experience with all of you. From my browsing of other projects, I can tell you that my little garage certainly won't be as grand as some I've seen, but I think it will still be pretty stylish when it's done.
I hope to talk with many of you as I post more!

Thanks for the welcome, Toolmon!

Dare I ask what you do with the armour?

Well, I'm not the type to go out with the SCA boys to try and bash each other's skulls open, but once I get the hang of the making I might try selling a few bits here and there. Some friends who are way into the whole Ren Faire thing say there are always people looking for armor pieces and collectors who will buy whole suits. For now it's just for fun. :)

Don't underestimate the fun of the bashing they do in the SCA...it's a good time ;-)

While I don't have the time to do the fighting anymore, I've always wished I could turn out armour like some of the skilled craftsmen are able to do. I'd like to see some photos of your work when you're ready!
