Hello fellow enthusiasts!
I have been a long-time lurker to these forums for a while now, and finally figured I should create my own profile and start posting! I'm currently living in the great high country of southern Virginia in a little town called Snowville...it's such a small, close-knit community that I had to create its own Wikipedia page a few years back, here: Snowville, VA
Anyhow, I am a continuing education student studying for my PhD in hydrometeorology at Virginia Tech. I've taken a sort of sabbatical since 2016 to earn some more money and focus on family life. I currently work as a mail clerk in Radford, VA and am postmaster for the Belspring Post Office, 24058. My father and I built my current energy-efficient home in 2012. It's the highest elevation home in the county that is occupied year-round, so getting in/out during some months is a challenge when there are winter storms. But my wife of seven years and I like it as it is very peaceful and all our neighbors are family!
I built my first garage for my father-in-law in 2016. He was looking for a 2-car garage with tall walls and a high ceiling so he could put in a lift to work on cars. Here's the result: Prescott Garage Build
My second garage build came a year later and earlier this year (2017) when my friend who works with me asked if I could build a garage for her husband. Needless to say I was excited to do it since I enjoyed the first build so much. Her husband and I became good friends since he helped me just about every day I worked, whether it was the layout, carrying block, or installing siding. I have a BAD fear of heights, and they knew this going in as I made it clear, but he and a neighbor of mine were able to install the roof sheathing and shingles. We worked on the landscaping and his driveway/walkway and lighting as well. I don't have a video on it yet, but here are a few pics of the build and a link to the gallery on GJ:

And finally, I just started work on my very own garage just a few days ago!
The excavator still has a couple hours left before the site is ready, but I'll be starting a new thread for my garage build in the coming days...watch for it!
I hope folks enjoy the content I post and get some use/ideas from it!
Take care and 73 (ham lingo for "best regards")
Anthony
