Hello Everyone

For a couple of months now I am reading your lovely forum.
Every time I was here I wanted to register and introduce myself but I kept on reading and reading and reading until my available time was gone and I never came to it.
But let me introduce myself now. Originally I come from the island of Crete but for family reasons I moved to The Netherlands in 97. Ever since I was a kid (that’s a long long time ago) I was playing with tools and all kinds of technical things as my father was a car mechanic so I eventually got addicted and became rustoholic mainly tinkering old cars and motorcycles. In the process I collected hundreds of tools and machines
Back home I had lots of space to work but here where I live now the area is overpopulated so houses with a garage are rear. Our house came with a small bike shed ( 9,5 x 7,5 ft ) and after long discussions with my lady I extended it another 7,5 x7,5 ft so the bikes moved out to the extension and I took over the shed and made a small workshop. Three years ago I got a 48 Chevy Fleetmaster project car but there was no garage available near so I rented a part of a barn some 25 miles away. There I had all the space I needed so mechanical work and a new interior was done. After one and a half year and an estimate of some 6000 miles the car was ready to drive again and also I was lucky finding a garage to rent here in town. The Fleetmaster just fits in but many things stayed *homeless* and I had to take them home and now my shed is completely filled up to the roof.

Welcome to the board! That's a great car! How did it end up in the Netherlands?

Thank you.:)

The car was assembled in 1948 in Belgium by the *General Motors continental SA.Antwerp* and registered the same year here in The Netherlands from the first owner me been the second one since 2008 and then she was given the name *Gipsy Queen*.
I got her from a dealer so I never had the chance to meat the owner and learn her history:sad:.
She was last licensed for use in 1965 .In the late 70s or early 80s (that is a guess from the kind of color that was used) she was completely stripped and painted but the interior was never reinstalled and the frond seat bench and other smaller trim items were lost.
I found another bench from a roded one and searched for upholsterers and I had been quoted some $6,500 for a new interior :bigun2: so I made her a complete interior from raw 50s materials by myself at a cost of approx $350 :). I installed a complete new brake system and took care of all her mechanical and electrical needs as required. She is again on the road since April last year and we enjoy every single mile we drive with her ( well she is actually counting in Kilometers):dunno:
