Hello everyone I am just excited to get started with a group of GOOD guys that have a unity in common. Striving for better. I have been in the hardware business since I was a kid. Have a 3 car garage that has been converted into a personal working man cave. Pictures to follow with questions soon I hope. Mainly looking for a better system to compact hardware into a better storage system and trying to organize several generations of tools into 1 unit.

N&B: happy to have another positive new member. sure post up some pictures when you get a chance and i use the paperclip just above where you write your posts to attach pictures sort of like an email.

you might want to put your location in your profile so it shows up under your name when you post on other threads the other members will have an idea where you live. hopefully to give you a better answer to your questions.

here's something I've found for tools and nuts and bolts that might help if you can find them in your area. some were from a closing TV repair business and some from an army surplus.

cheers and welcome

drivesitfar : Our shop has the same kind of work bench. It's deep enough that you can place a few things below it like chemicals or jacks / jack stands.

Howdy from sapulpa! You'll find a few other okies here. Do you own a hardware store? I'd be all about supporting a gj members store.

Welcome from Owasso

For hardware storage, I use Lista/Lyon/Vidmar cabinets. I use the dividers that come with the cabinets, plastic stackable bins, and Schaller Corp bins.

Welcome aboard. I'm a big fan of the Lista and Vidmar boxes but there are a lot of solutions around. I live outside of town and a trip in for hardware is a distraction and a waste for me. So I try to have a small hardware cache at all times.

There are a few threads that might help you out:

I inherited my grandfathers screws and bolts in baby food jars with lids nailed to the underside of his workbench hutch. I took possession of my father's coffee can based bolt mix. I used my own plastic oil can bottom based system for years and years before I got some dedicated hardware solutions.

You might keep your eyes on CL around Tulsa. Also Public Surplus and Gov. Liquidations auctions can be great. A lot of the old flight-line boxes from Tinker get sold off that way (used for tools and parts by USAF).

I hope you learn as much around here as I have. Every time some newbie asks a question here I think; "I know the answer to that". Then when I read the replies I find out about five things I never knew at all. It has been great.
