Hello!
Every time I search for information on old tools, this forum pops up, so finally decided to register. Computer geek, former tin-knocker, shade tree mechanic, electronics hobbyist, cat furniture...
So I go to a lot of garage sales, I've been going since I was a kid. It used to be people would fight over the tools. Now they seem to hang out, unloved and unwanted. So it seems like every weekend I'm bringing home another greasy milk crate full of tools of various types and qualities. I've become intrigued by videos of people restoring various old tools, and want to try it. I have lots of tools that are rusty and unusable.
I'd also like to expand my knowledge of tools; I'm pretty familiar with the major brands from Crescent to Chicago, and most common hand and power tools. But I suspect I'm bypassing stuff that is rare and valuable because I don't realize that people would desire it-I have a dozen or more of most tools, I'm not going to buy pipe wrench number 19 unless I know I can sell it to somebody. Anyhow, I'll be poking through the threads to see what I can learn, and chiming in if I can add anything.
