Hello, New here, was doing research before buying a vise. Learned a lot from the experiences shared here. Thank-you. Finding a decent used vise near me, at a bargain, has been a challenge. I think a lot more people realize the value in that lug of iron these days. I think I have OCD because I have looked at hundreds of vises over and over, learning the differences in types and material. Once I settle in on one I'll post a photo. I have a 55" X 20" Craftsman workbench so I am limited in depth. Max for me would probably be 8in vise. Leaning towards a cast steel or ductile iron vise. Like to find a used one but it looks more and more like I will look for a bargain on a brand name vise. I shop Amazon Warehouse for returns mostly. Almost bought a Wilton 675 but as I was learning I realized I wanted something stronger. Looking a Performance Tool MV6 Hammer Tough 6-Inch Machinist Vise, a Wilton 11106 and the Yost 938 AS or 906 AS. Trying to stay below $100.

I found there's is a lot more than vises here and I look forward to making my contribution to the site. I have done most of my own automotive work for the past 45 years. I'm lost with today's automotive technology so I pretty much stick to 2000 - 2006 used cars. Done most of my own home improvements too. Anyway thanks for having me and for listening.
