So i watched a video just posted by real tool reviews. I believe his name is woodstockva or something on here. Daniel said that anything you bought from grey pneumatic through amazon has no warranty as they are not an authorized reseller.
Anybody have any expierence with getting warranty from their amazon gp sockets?

I saw that video as well. Just crossed GP off my list. I was looking at getting the Duo sockets but not anymore. I have my regular Snap Ons, MAC, IR and Sunex to do the job.

Yep really was looking at those duo sockets. Now i have no way to get them with warranty that i know of here in Canada. Snap on and sunex will be my impacts now.

Good info. I have both GP and Sunex sockets but will lean towards Sunex for future purchases.

I just did a quick search, and Tool Barn offers Grey tools for less than Amazon. I am not sure if they sell internationally or not. Kind of strange that Amazon is the only place to get Grey in Canada -- the birthplace of Grey.

Might be time to ditch Amazon and not Grey. lol. Grey needs to put up an easy to use website where you can put in your postal code and find local distributors.

Look on their website it's pretty black and white, don't need some youtube "personality" to tell you what's right on their website

http://www.gpsocket.com/warranty.phtml

Black and white by their policy (which may or may not be legal).
But when they say their tools have a lifetime warranty, I expect them to honor it.

Yes, if I had the need to warranty one of my GP tools, I'd try my retailer first as they REQUESTED, but if the retailer is no longer in business, either GP is going to handle my claim, or GP will be getting a call from my state's Attorney General office.

G2S equipment sells grey in Canada. Not sure if they sell to anyone, but I know our Mac dealer sells their product, as well as one independent tool truck that used to stop in.

I was set on buying GP until I learned of the warranty and that they will not warranty anything directly and you have to go through a distributor. I have never bought any of their stuff and tried to warranty it directly through them or a distributor to see if they actually will or not.
On a side note I ended up going with sunex and love it and the customer service they provide, I can call them up in South Carolina and get the same person on the phone every time to help me out however I need.

I had them on my Amazon wishlist after reading good things here. I have never had to warranty a socket (home use only, not a pro) but that said I want a warranty when the tool comes with one.

I don't really understand the business model of having to go through distributors (but then again I am not in the tool business). I had to use Tekton's warranty once and it was easy. Send email with picture, get new part. Done. I wish more companies were like that. Why the need for the phone, waiting, ... when it is easy to even create a webpage to report problems, upload photos or videos and report a warranty claim.

It's not a big deal to me I rarely break sockets usually wear em out.

Plus I have tried to warranty snap on items and that has taken significant effort.

Since GP is actually pretty cheap it's no biggie to buy a single socket.

But now I'm gonna start looking at sunnex stuff.

This is who i was thinking of. They deal with all sorts of brands and have a whole bunch of great promotions

Has anyone found this claim in writing?
From Grey Pneumatic website:

GP manufacturers’ professional and industrial tools which are sold through the professional marketplace. GP recommends that its products be purchased from its professional authorized dealers in order to assure future support and warranty service. Unauthorized sources could include but are not limited to: Amazon, Bonanza, Ebay, Craigslist, Newegg, Rakuten, Walmart, Sears or any shopping search engine. GP recommends that you check your source of purchase for their service and warranty policy before purchasing. GP and its authorized distributor network will assume no service or warranty liability for products purchased from unauthorized sources.

All products for warranty consideration must be returned to the place of purchase. In cases where there is a question regarding warranty, the distributor has the right to return the socket to GP for determination before any action is taken. Only authorized distributors are allowed to handle warranty service. For a listing of authorized distributors in your area, please contact us.

This is Grey (Taiwan), not to be confused with the much higher quality made in Brampton, ON Canada Gray

I ran into this a few years ago and yes, retailers are not "authorized" distributors. In my case it was Tooltopia. I can't recall the full response from GP, but it looks like they have it spelled out on their webpage pretty well now. I haven't had to try with Sunex yet, so I don't know how that will go. Seemed silly that the manufacturer wouldn't warranty directly, but it is what it is.

Sunex listed authorized distributors on their website are:
Acme Tools
CPO Tools
Global Industrial
ToolBarn
Amazon
MSC
Summit Racing

You have to be careful though with Amazon because you can buy from a marketplace retailer who is not authorized.

uhmmmm no.... GREY as in Grey Pneumatic is a problem. GRAY TOOLS is another company, ( from Canada ) they make great tools right here in North America!! and stand behind them.

I wish they had a full lifetime warranty no matter where they were purchased, however at the price point they sell for, not a big deal spending $3 for a replacement. I have used my 5 sets of Duo's hard for probably 3 years and haven't broken a single one. How many is a person gonna need to warranty anyway? I think I have broken a total of one impact socket in the last 30 years (Snap On) and maybe have worn out a couple more. Personally I think it is a non issue. My bigger complaint is that you have to buy Duo sets with extensions and ratchets, which drives up the cost. Never did like the feel of them and have a drawer full just wasting space, but that's another issue.

They should.
Like craftsman, break it, you bring it back to sears.
Like Snap on, break it, give it to the driver, or mail to snap on.
Same with Mac and Cornwell.
Even since we have had not had any tool truck dealers at all coming to the last shop I worked in, past 5 years, I have already mailed tools to snap on, Mac, and Cornwell, and received full replacements. with wonderful service.
hell, even HF gives a full replacement on broken hand tools.

as far as GP, I only have a metric short well 3/8" impact set, that I don't use often, I doubt I will have to worry about it in my lifetime.
BTY I have had my sunex 3/8" drive swivel sockets, for the past 30 years, and have broken a total of 0ne, and that was when I adapted it up to a 1/2" impact, and used My
IR-2135 on it.
I got a NAPA store to warranty it.

Couldn't agree more. Anyone willing to spend anything above harbor freight prices on sockets probably has ratchets that they perfer to use in every situation over those bulky gp ratchets. I am a fan of them including the extensions if they are wobble.
