Grinder For Body Work

What is the best grinder/sander for grinding down welds for thin sheet metal autobody work? I was using a 4.5'' grinder with a flap wheel and it seemed like it was just gouging the metal too much.

This is what I use, IMO you have more control then with a larger 4.5 grinder, and to be honest with you I've never seen a 4.5 grinder being used in a body shop.

Just a cut off tool with a 3/16 thick grinding disc. Use this to knock the proud weld down, you only grind ON the weld.



Then to blend the weld I use a right angle die grinder with the Rolec attachment system with 50 grit. Depending on the area am working the disc are either 2 or 3 in in size.
The Rolec system is the trade name from 3M but many other companies have such a system. The metal disc shown in the picture is not part of the Rolec.
