Grinder shaft extensions

The extensions I've seen online for extending shafts for buffing are for smooth shafts, not the threaded shaft on my 8" DeWalt grinder. Will these gump up the threads with the setscrews? Would a 5/8" bore fit snugly on a 5/8" threaded shaft? Or do I look for a 5/8" female threaded x 1/2" male threaded extension? (I haven't seen any online.) Any suggestions?

I would not use those extensions on a threaded shaft; for the reason you mentioned, (galled threads) and those are hard enough to keep on a properly fitting shaft, much less a threaded shaft...

Have you looked up actual threaded extensions from someone reputable like Baldor or the like?

They do paypal or check, I wish they took a card.

Paypal is easy and safer than letting a vendor have my card number.

I much prefer having just one place online that ever has any of my banking info,

Only have to block access in the one spot, instead of worrying about which one of dozens of online vendors are screwing with me.
