Grinder trips GFCI

I picked up an older B&D grinder last weekend. When I plug it in, the GFCI receptacle trips after a second or so. I don't hear any sound from the motor at all. I opened up the bottom and don't see any obvious shorts.

I have a multimeter, but I'm not sure what readings would be normal for a single phase motor.

Is this a double insulated tool, or a three wire? I'm going to guess it is a double insulated. The motor's tool case probably went hot due to the age of the tool. Switch to a three wire grounded plug. Measure the resistance between each side of your two prong plug first. It should NOT show continuity between either side and the housing. If it does show continuity, then there is voltage leaking to the casing and that gfci shutting down is keeping you from getting set on your *** when you use it -- especially if you are standing on a concrete floor.

Thanks JimDon... it's a 3 wire. It shows open between the hot and the casing.
When I test from neutral to the case, it shows voltage for a second then goes back to open... I'm guessing that's due to the capacitor?
