Saw this today and thought of you all:

VERY close call: Metal disc breaks off power tool, flies at man's face

Matthew Peters was using a grinder - a tool that sharpens blades and tools - when half of the metal disc broke off. Still spinning, it flew at his face and cut through the plastic of his face shield.

Wow! Would have been a lot worse without the face shield. PPE has saved many people from disaster. It can be cumbersome at times, but one's health and life are worth the bother.

This is one of the reasons why I prefer a die grinder over an angle grinder and always wear both a face shield AND safety glasses.

Nice BS clickbait story from tic tok - the wheel in the shield is from a chop saw and the grinder is a 4.5" or so size.

I have done a lot of dumb things with cutoff wheels on grinders and die grinders short and even ones with small breaks from being dropped don't fail like that.

I have been getting better about wearing my face shield. My glasses are fairly new and very scratched and pitted already... Eyeballs are important.

I wear glasses on anything I'm working on that has the chance of getting in my eyes.

Even though this is a set-up, I'm sure it'll get the point across to people to wear PPE.

If he really wanted to promote PPE he should have been wearing the required approved safety glasses under the shield...
