I've been grinding most of the weekend. Probably six hours yesterday and three hours already this morning. Just finished sweeping it out - washed it out about 20 minutes ago and this is what I've got. W. ill be installing VCT over Memorial Weekend if the floor is ready

Does the standing water indicate I've still got sealer and it needs to come off?

The dark spots are mostly gone but several remain. Floor is 33 years old - double car garage.

Prep is always the worst part and the most important part of any job. If you have questions on the floor, then grind some more. More will not hurt if not needed, but will hurt if you need it and it is not done.

Water beading indicates that you have sealer/paint/oil/whatever. your standing water could just looks like you have more water than can soak in to the concrete. Dry everything off and then sprinkle little droplets of water on the concrete, it should soak in very quickly. If it beads up and sits there then you need to grind/clean it some more.

If you are putting down VCT, then the grinding won't be as critical as if you were going to epoxy. For VCT, just grind off the high spots and call it a day.
