Grinding wheel

I recently got an old bench grinder that had been used in a machine shop, it had a wheel on it that looks like it is made from some kind of clothe. It's brown and isn't real abrasive. It isn't a buffing wheel but I don't know what it's used for. There isn't a name or anything on it, any one know what it might be ?

Is it like a soctchbrite pad or sandpaper? Got a pic? It may be some kind of deburring wheel.

No, it's just like a grinding wheel except it's not made from the normal abrasive material. it's got a little give to it, not much. It kinda looks like a hard close cell sponge. I'll try and get a picture latter but it isn't going to tell you much, it looks like a normal wheel except brown. I may need to take it to a machine shop and ask them what it's for. I thought maybe it was for grinding aluminum or brass but don't really know.

3m/scotchbrite wheels, they come in different grades for deburring/polishing.

It's either a cratex or beartex wheel, not sure which. looks like either one.
