Griots or UCoat It?

I am trying to decide between these two coatings.

The Griots appeals to me since they are located very close to me in Tacoma, WA. Also I have been happy with their tools etc, product looks easy to work with, affordable, and I have not heard any bad reviews of the product. Downside is that there is no guarantee on this product.

UCoat it appeals because it is easy to apply, affordable and has a lifetime warrantee.

Any suggestions between the two of them? This would be a self-install in my three bay garage. Thanks in advance!

I am absolutely unfamiliar with both products, but will say that virtually everything in Griot's is just re-badged other stuff but marked up twice as high...

Forget Ucoat's warranty, it's painful, you have to send back samples and such. some of my top layer peeled for various different reasons, somehow it did not adhere to the first coat, but since the first coat is there, it still resist oil though.

No experience with Griot's. I would try to look for products that is one single coat.

I have done Griot's, in my last garage. I thought it was great until I saw what great is. Griot's is fine, and I even drove down to get it myself, but it is water based and so every ripple in your cement shows through. After a couple of years, the Griots was starting to show some wear through. No lifting mind you, but just wear.

Read some other posts and go with as much solids as you can find. 100% solids is great to put down and there is hardly any odor.

I do agree with the previous poster that Griots is just rebadged paint. I always thought he had a good job just putting his name on other peoples hard work and then making money off of it, but that is the american way. BTW I still buy a number of things from them, such as "speed shine" and their claybar etc.

I might add that I am not aware of no "single coat" system that would be acceptable. Most will require a basecoat, color and topcoat for it to work, especially if you want flakes in your paint. Unsealed flakes will most likely make the color coat fail in the long run.

Just do a search for 100% solids and eliminate Wolverine, because he doesn't do dyi sales and you'll find some good products. I believe there was a good one mentioned in the last month or so. Take care.

Anyone have any suggestions for an affordable 100% solids system? I don't mind doing multiple coats, and want it to look wear nice, but I don't want to break the bank. Thanks!

Also check with your local paint store. They may possibly sell a two-part epoxy system. A lot of the local paint stores deal with the local factories and business in the area and carrie an industrial line of paints and coatings. And by local paint store I don't mean the local Lowes or Home Depot. I used the Rustoleum brand Garage floor coating system one year. HUGE MISTAKE!!! I prepped accordinging and the floor failed in less than 6 months. Probably more like two months and that was with a couple of weeks parking outside so it was throughly cured. Nothing worse sounding that pulling out of the garage first thing in the morning and hearing the tires pull up a big patch of paint. Then it sticks to the tire better than the floor. Our local store sells a two-part epoxy but it is around $100.gallon. Waterproof and tough. It has been used outside of our shop to seal up some concrete because there is a room underneath. It has been down probably 4 or 5 years now and still looks like the day it was put down. So the winter snows and salt have not affected it. I figure 4 or 5 outside should last quite a few more in a controlled climate.
