Made the normal rounds of Lowe's this morning and decided to check out the new Tractor Supply here in town for a change. They have an 8-inch bench grinder marked down from $70 to $50, and a bunch of holiday stuff on clearance (toys, tools, etc), but nothing that really stands out.

Anyway, I found the regular clearance rack at the back of the store and saw nothing of note until checking out the bottom shelf. There was one box of Grip Rite 2" exterior screws and a number of boxes of nails and fence staples. I walked out with the following:

(5x) 1-lb boxes of 16d 3 1/2" nails: was $3.99 / marked $0.69 / rang up $0.39

5-lb box of 2" Primeguard exterior screws: was $24.99 / marked and rang up $7.49

5-lb box of 60d 6" timber ties: was $14.99 / marked $2.79 / rang up $0.99

(2x) 5-lb boxes of 16d 3 1/2" nails: was $12.99 / marked $3.49 / rang up $2.39

5-lb box of 10" spikes: was $8.99 / not marked--rang up $4.19

5-lb box of 1 3/4" roofing nails w/neoprene washers: was $14.99 / marked and rang up $4.99

(2x) 5-lb boxes of 1 3/4" fence staples: was $11.99 / marked and rang up $5.99

5-lb box of 2 1/2" fence staples: was $13.99 / marked and rang up $3.49

The employees told me that vendors were changed, so every TSCO store should have what's left on clearance, albeit with different prices. I'm tempted to check out another location about 20 miles away to find more screws.

I picked up a 5lb box of the 2 inch primeguards at my local store last weekend - although I paid a little over $10. Several boxes of nails and fencing staples were also available. Looks like it's company wide then

I got about 10 boxes of self-drilling sheetmetal screws with neoprene washers in #10 thru 1/4". I use the hell out of these things as everything I build is steel. All $3.50-$4 per box, normally $9 to $10, even at HD.

edit: this has been going on for at least a few weeks so it depends upon how busy your store is and how promptly they signed the markdowns.

Picked up a 5lb box of galvanized nails, normally $14.99, paid 4.39. They mostly had staples, lots of staples, but nothing too discounted. Bowling Green OH TSC

Looks like they were replaced by FasnRite branded ones from the Hillman Group. Made in China, of course...

Just left the Jesup, GA store, they have a few boxes of various screws, nails, and staples, but the discount is nowhere near as good. Paid $4.79 for a 1-lb box of 1 5/8" Primeguard screws that was originally $7.49. Hinesville, GA has a bunch of sheet metal screws left--I passed those over as I don't use them much.

BTW - as you can see I ran across this last weekend picking up some lithium grease to free up a slow moving power window in my Explorer. Yeah - it didn't work so I'll be ordering something for that.
Anywho - 20 lashes for me for not reporting what I found at the time. I almost did post but just figured it was a local thing. No more - I could have given you guys a week head start on this deal. But I let you down. fm2176 is clearly a better member than me but I promise to try to make more than a slight effort in the future

I checked my store a couple weeks ago (believe this was listed in the clearance thread for last year) and they only have 3" and up left on both screws and nails. I bought the last box that was under 3".

Noticed the discounted fasteners at my local stores (upstate NY - Oneonta, Norwich,Sidney, Delhi) but not nearly as low of a price as you guys are getting.

Bringing this back once for those who didn't see it and don't mind gambling that their local store has anything left. Stopped by TSCO again yesterday and most of the sheet metal screws were still on the clearance shelf. I picked up five boxes of two different sizes. They were marked $3.29 and $3.89, down from around $9. At checkout, one rang up at a hair over $4 and the other around $1.50 (receipt in the truck right now).

Also picked up a 36" grease gun hose for 25% off which made life much easier when lubing the truck yesterday. Yesterday was a customer appreciation day, so 10% off total purchase and I got a free hat as well.
