Griswoldville Mg Co

Found this in the wall of my northern New York 1850s house while renovating. The stamp is hard to read, but it says: GRISWOLDVILLE MG CO CAST STEEL WARRANTED.

I think it is from the early to mid 1800s.

If anyone out there has any information, I would greatly appreciate it.

Very interesting perhaps by chance it is a tool used in the cotton mill.

Found this in the book "The Memorial History of Hartford County Connecticut" starting on page 486.

After further inspection, it seems to have had a point as a chisel (edge tool), not squared off like a screwdriver.

You hit the nail on the head good job! The clue "EDGE TOOLS".
