$1311+tax

$1295+150 freight, +tax?
Appears these are new, look to be one of the common imported units. It is only 24" deep, but still has a lot of drawers..

Anyone have thoughts on it? I am looking for a lower box, would prefer a 30" deep to maximize room, but that price seems nice compared to Extreme, Viper, etc. Keeping in mind, for my use, this is a home garage box.

I have checked out the Viper facility here in San Diego area and really liked their stuff, but the big boys still aren't cheap, so short of a Scratch & Dent deal from them it seems like this Grizzly might be a good option :dunno:

(I searched and did not see any reference to these boxes, sorry if this has been discussed before)

Depending on your budget, doesn't it always...

www.strictlytoolboxes.com

They'll have what you need...

(Methinks that box is a tad flimsy...you could buy the 56" Roller cabinet and the "New" Top Chest from Harbor Freight for similar money, and that set is NOT flimsy!!!)

That is one big unit for the price. I wish I knew how deep that top long drawer is. It looks pretty shallow. I may be the guinea pig on this thing and order it. That probably wont be until January though. Sold by Amazon is a huge plus if there is any shipping damage. That is a very nice delivered price.

I can't say I care for that drawer layout, especially the shallow top one.

Viper often puts their 72" box on sale for $1800. If you're close, you might be able to pick it up. For 25% more volume, I think it's worth it!

I'm surprised we don't get more feedback on GJ about Grizzly; I've been buying from them for years and have been really satisfied with their stuff-I've purchased both woodworking and metalworking tools from them, in fact my first purchase was a floor model drill press almost 30 years ago; still running great with original motor, switch, same belts.... finally replaced the chuck a few months ago.

On a side note, it's a real "Coming to America" business success story.

I really like that drawer layout, my problem with deep drawers is that the took I need always seems to be buried on the bottom of the drawer. I have one if their smaller machinist boxes, and am happy with the quality. Since Amazon takes 2-3 weeks to ship it, if order direct from grizzly, considering that that toolbox is lighter than many of the machines they ship I wouldn't worry at all.

Call me crazy, but you could always look at the specs...

I have never seen a grizzly box in person so I don't know what they are really like. My main turn off from them from a spec stand point was their 18" deep boxes only had 14" drawers. This box seems to have decent drawer depth of 22" in a 24" box. Is the spec for this box right, the 51" wide drawer is only 1 3/4" tall? Also is 580 lbs kinda light for a 72" box?

Viper's website states they are in Murrietta, CA (between LA and San Diego).

Kev

Main warehouse is in El Cajon, CA. 10 minutes east of San Diego.
I stopped by again today and they have a green 41" lower with a dent and upper hutch I might snag. Depends if SWMBO allows green...

I am surprised there doesn't seem to be much about viper on these forums either..?

That is true but delivery to my house from Amazon would be nice. I have not been to a Harbor Freight before I think there is one in St. Paul. I have been saving a few coupons that come in my NRA magazines. I might go there some day and get the free screwdrivers and maybe the 5 drawer cart.

Maybe build a frame and put the 2 56" into one long 112" box.

Looks very similar to
Menards Masterforce. I like the Masterforce drawer layout better. Masterforce has grip latch drawers a s is a few Hundo less on sale. They go on sale every 4 to 6 weeks.

I haven't seen it for that price. Unfortunately no scratch/dents of that or the 60". Don't have a 72" to even look at that isn't crated..

Anyways, back on topic (Grizzly).. Is 24 vs 30 a big difference? I know sqft increases, but is it a useable extra 6"? I like the idea of a lower/workbench over a smaller bottom/top combo.

Consider the Montezuma line. As everything, prices have gone up offer the years but the 72" has a much better drawer set up. Shannon at strictly toolboxes used to frequent this site a while back and always took care of everyone. He will change the drawer layout for you as well.
