Grizzly is one of the better names of the imported tools. My opinion is that they take things a little bit further than Horrible Fright and Northern Tools. However, I think some of the smaller items are pretty much identical to those other distributors.

Framing nailer...nah i'd stick to bostich or porter cable. At least you can get parts for them and find someone to work on them if absolutely necessary. I would think the grizzly one would be disposable if you have a problem. Granted i dont have any direct expierience with one. I have bought several other peices of equipment for my maintenance crew at work. It seems to hold up fairly well. I think grizzly's medium duty shop equipment is a good bang for the buck. Some of the band saws were similar/ identical to JET ones at about 60% of the cost.

Just my two cents.... worth exactly what it cost ya...

Go chordless!! I love my Paslode framing nailer. They are not cheap, and cost a bit to run (gas cartridges), but the convenience of not being tethered to an air hose is really great. Also, I don't know about today, but when I bought mine a few years back, it was the lightest framing gun you could buy. Got mine new on eBay for about $100 less than Home Depot. Go for the angled version, as it gives a bit more flexibility. If you do decide to get one of these, one lesson I learned the hard way was to never leave them in a sub freezing environment (like an unheated garage), it can crack the cylinder. Their finish nailers are great as well.

PS....This was the wrong part of the forum to post this.

Same import stuff as HF and Northern Tool -- just different paint!!! On the other hand, much of their fab equipment is mostly Taiwan sourced, while the others source from mainland China.

I would say ebay a good brand one, and if you don't need it, sell it when you're done. I bought and sold my roofing nailer for the same price, so basically I ate the shipping charge for use of the nailer.

I buy from Griz.. Not a nailer. I bought a 3-pak of nailers from Costco of the Campbell Hausfeld variety. These were inexpensive and yet seem to hold up well without jamming too much for DIY projects. The CH nailers can be found fairly cheap through a google search.

I would not be afraid to try a grizzly though-as I have found their customer service to be very good. Be sure to find the clearance items (2nds and blems/returns) and also the grizzly presidents Special page. Website is a bit hard to navigate.

Patoyota and others,

Would you buy a framing nailer from Grizzly?

It depends on how much you plan on using it. If you ask me, if you only plan on using it once or twice, rent a quality unit from the local HD or Lowes contractor services dept. instead. If you plan on using the nailer a lot and can pony up the extra cost, buy a better branded nailer.

I've heard decent things about Grizzly's power tools, so it might be relatively riskless to give them a chance.

Check craigslist. They usually have a ton of air tools, etc. I bought a porter cable framing nailer--the round head style, and a bunch of nails for $80. Granted, it was used, but it was in great shape. you can get some deals on contractors equipment with the soft markets.......

I have a dewalt framing nailer that I bought off of ebay new for 200.00. I have built alot of stuff with it including may 12x16 shed and put up about 300 feet of fence. Without ever haveing a problem with it or a nail jamb.

Mine is a round head nailer and not a split one.
Senco is a good nailer also.

My son bought a professional framing nailer for $60.00 from a local pawn shop. Don't remember the name but it's one of the best brands out there.

Yo,
I buy from Grizzly. Their customer service is excellent. As with some of the other posts, I suspect they are sourcing their throw-a-way's from a similar vendor as "Harbor Fright"....
Their larger shop machines are excellent value, and the variety is hard to beat.
Buy it. Try it out. I'll bet'cha if there is a real issue, they will fix it or replace it with no qualms. Keep us "posted".....(hah!!!)

I know that this post has already come to conclusion, but I wanted to add my two cents on Paslode.
I got one from the reman ebay seller for about $160. When I got it home, I could not even find a single scratch or mark. The thing looked brand new and shoots perfectly. I highly recommend that avenue for the home user...
