Anybody have an opinion on them?

I'm looking at buying a 50 ton shop press and wondered what
the group consensus was Yes I know that they're made in China

Grizzly excels in many areas. Woodworking tools is their primary category but have branched out to metal, gun related, and general tools.

I would say just about any heavy machinery-wise they are as good if not better then other name brands ie Jet, Delta, Dewalt, etc... So when looking for a 14" bandsaw or planer, etc.. they are very good.

For other stuff I would say they are on the same level as any other Asian made brand, so do your research and see whats out there. Often on things like a press they will have the same model rebranded as Northern Tool, Harbor Freight, etc....

I think they make good stuff. I've put some hours in on a Grizzly metal lathe, seemed like a nice machine. Downside is that shipping for some people (location) can be a $$$ ordeal.

I have some woodworking tools from Grizzly. I think for the price its hard to beat. For my home woodshop, its much easier to justify Grizzly over Powermatic stuff and for what I do I don't see the benefit of the more expensive tool

Grizzly tools are fine. Parts availability, price and reliability. Got a tool from them working on my shop, there were issues but it's still functioning.

Grizzly Industrial is a "Coming to America" success story. Their tools are very good, and service is great-they actually stock replacement parts, prices are reasonable, with knowledgeable staff to help you out.
Their tools are imported from Asia (what isn't?) but I believe they are built to much higher quality standards than anything from HF or the local discount tool retailers...and they offer a much better selection, in both woodworking and metalworking equipment (and luthier, gunsmithing, shooting and whatever other hobby the owner is interested in. :))
My first purchase from them (drill press and table saw) was almost 30 years ago, have been back many times. Nothing but good experiences for me with Grizzly.

Had the 8in jointer/planer & a 12in disc sander. Both worked just fine. Tried to sell the jointer planer for about 2 years, no bites, it ended up in Jay Lenos workshop.
