They're chinese tools, not made in the USA, but have excellent customer service. They have all the parts for all the tools they sell. Good quality, I would say better then Harbor Freight, atleast I've been using them for 15 years now, every day with no problems.

Their table saws, band saws, joiners and planers are top notch. Everyone I know that uses Grizzly tools likes them.

I have a 1023SL tablesaw and it works well. Like Abbott, I have heard good things about thier table saws, band saws, jointers, and planers.

Machinery is a notch better then HF. (They seem to hold their Chinese suppliers to higher quality standards.)

If I had to buy Chinese machinery, Grizzly would be on the short list.

It depends on what you are looking at. It has been my experience that if you buy the equipment that Gizzly advertises as ISO 9001 etc it normally is a good value for the money. But, it is also my experience that some of their stuff is junky. Their customr service is great.

Like everyone said, they're chinese tools. But so is Jet and a couple of Wilton models. A lot of Jet, ENCO, Grizzly, Clark and Harbor Freight machines are made in the same factories to different specs. I have been told that Jet and Grizzly disassemble everything, clean and reassemble then tweak before going out to the end user. Helping a friend set up a new Grizzly lathe, we found it needed a couple of replacement parts. A simple phone call had the parts to us within a few days.
As much as I hate buying Chinese sourced products, it's getting really hard to go elsewhere because even some of the US made standards are sourcing equipment from there and slapping their name on it.

There's no way in hell that the Grizzly disassembles/ reassembles the Chicom they resell. With quality used US machines SO readily available I can't fathom why folks buy something new that "needed a couple of replacement parts". When I set up my '56 Bridgeport it didn't need any replacement parts. I plugged it in, trammed it and started making quality parts. Same with my '47 DoAll bandsaw.
How bent up are our perceptions when "New and only a little broken" is the level of quality that we expect/ tolerate? And then be grateful when the company is able to supply the parts that should have been in there in the first place! I don't get it.

I don't know if Grizzly takes them apart or not...just what I've been told. I do know that when the crate was opened, the lathe did not have that nuclear grade chinese cosmoline all over it. Just a nice coating of heavy machine oil.

No one ever said "New and a little broken" was ok. I was simply anwering the OP's question and speaking to their customer service and the fact they responded very well to an issue. Many other companies in the US could learn from them.

Glad you were able to get some american iron for what you considered a decent value. I looked for several years and never found anything so I gave up and didn't get anything.

I own two griz tools, a bandsaw and a mill. The best I have ever heard it expressed is thusly:

"Grizzly sells mediocre quality tools at low prices, with excellent customer service."

That about sums it up.

I agree. Great customer service. I own a Grizzly mill. The price is were I can afford it. I also buy craftsmen tools not snap on. Just can't afford or justify the top shelf stuff. I tend to jump around on projects so buying the lower costs tools allows me to do that.
