Depends on what you are wanting to spend. I wouldn't look past getting something personal to you and your friends engraved into a knife or ratchet or something.

A nice 'dress' knife is always good in my case. Engrave 'Thanks' on it and it will be good.

This will certainly date my old ****....

My best man got a Randall #2-7 fighting knife and the 2 groomsmen received a #2-5 each. I haven't seen them in years..........Wish I had kept the knives.......

Today it would be something similar to a SOG folder or equal with some engraving on it and I would save a ton of cash for the honeymoon...:)

Go with the Leatheman. For someone who doesn't hunt/work with their hands, it's more practical than another type of knife.

How about Remington 870 Express 12 gauge shotguns. Every guy needs a shotgun. He may not know it yet, but he does. About $300 each. Then go shoot sporting clays with your buddies a few times a year.

Victoronox makes some nice dress pocket knives. Get one engraved.
I use my Leatherman Micra nearly every day, but it was only $15. Seems a little cheap for a groomsman gift.
I would enjoy a nice engraved set of beer mugs.
Craftsman 3 drawer tool box with an engraved name plate on top
SAE/Metric Ratcheting wrench set
I got some fishing lures once. I was happy.
Nice fishing reel
I pod shuffles with some songs you and your buddies used to listen to

I would suggest Pink Snap On racheting screwdrivers off of their website. For $50, you can't go wrong and I think everybody would get a big laugh out of it.

I got a leatherman once about 15 years ago as a groomsman gift. Still have it and use it often. I appreciated that gift and it's useful for anyone not just tool junkies.

There are some very nice (ie: $100) multi-tools out there these days!

I got several nice cigars for my groomsmen.

An F80 or a set of screwdrivers is in the $100 range.

Didn't GJ have a multi-tool as an ad on the main page a couple weeks ago? That would be different....

I don't see it on there now... Did anyone save the link?

People - all these replies about the OP's original question! What's wrong with you? Read between the lines - it's not about Groomsmen gifts - he's trying to tell you that he is getting MARRIED! It's a cry for help! Hopefully it's not too late at this point.
Now let's see if we can start dispensing the appropriate advice :lol_hitti

:shocking::shocking:

That would be close to $2k these days!!!! If you ordered them direct from Randall, the wait is currently at 58 months and you only get to order 1 every 3 months.

Heck, a guy could be 3 marriages down the road by the time the knives get there if he tried to go this route :)

It looks like everyone is already dispensing the appropriate device... to buy more tools...

...somehow that's always the advice around here.

It was a 3 month wait back in the mid 70's and a lot of people didn't know what they were then. Now all of those old Randall's are collector pieces. Back then, they were just good combat knives....and cost less than $125 each.

I want to say congratulations and especially THANK YOU. The only groomsman gifts I ever got were completely useless. Some of them were't cheap, but have no value to me. That reminds me. I need to dig up that gold money clip with the little diamond in it and see what the pawn shop will give me for it. Then I can get something useful.

I'm not saying you NEED to spend $100 each on these guys, but whatever it is, make sure it is quality and useful. If it is something they use often, they will think of you often.

All right then - no one seems to understand the real problem here so let me give my advice.....

Knives always have class for guys. My groomsmen got very nice pocket knives complete with a very nice sharpening kit. Don't try to go sentimental with any of it - you know we don't work that way. Nothing has to be engraved.

And of course, congratulations.

Not for my groomsmen but my BIL graduated from Fire Academy last summer, and we bought him a nice Spyderco Endura with his graduation information engraved on it.

It was a nice knife, light enough for everyday carry, or to keep in the car, but large enough to laser engrave so you could read it.

If I recall it ran less than $75 shipped from an online outfit. Spyderco makes great knives, and tons of variety in the lineup. I see lots of suggestions for knives and multitools so I figured I would throw this out for you. I looked high and low for something he could carry and use, or keep as a memento, and these fit the bill for us.

We called them ushers when I got married.

I got a subscription to Field and Stream for one, a pair of brass knuckles for another, an M-16 bayonet for a third and a nice Old Timer pocket knife for the fourth. I gave my best man, my dad, a Harrington Richardson rifle in 22-250.

The guys in my wedding all got engraved Mini Leathermans. I got one for a groomsman gift and thought it was cool. I bought 5 of them from Bass Pro Shops. I think they were $25 each. My uncle engraved them for free. They all seemed to go over really well. The Mini's had a little pair of scissors instead of pliers... Handy little buggers, until they get lost....

My friend gave me a small humidor full of cigars when I was his best man. My brother in law gave me an engraved flask and a bottle of scotch when I was a groomsman for him.

I do like the shotgun suggestion above, every man should have one, and you'd be surprised how many don't.

thanks:beer:

some good thoughts going around here.

i had never thought i could get them both different gifts...

one guy is a tool tradesman and would use a knife/leatherman... the other is a radio DJ and would probably just put it in a drawer.

i need to think of something for him...

*funny story, my last nice pocket knife i owned, a gift from my father, my DJ friend and I were shot-gunning beers in a provincial (state, for the yanks) park, my friend - in a moment of ******* reflex - knifed his beer, chugged it, and threw my knife 50' into the woods.... never found it.... maybe he wont get a knife.

After 29 years of marrage, today's gifts from me would be a 2 piece or 3 piece pouch of genuine Channellock tounge n groove plier sets. Best Man might get a cordless drill combo or a Sawzall...........

I've got 5 on order currently. The first one is scheduled to be completed in April 2013--Only 3 more years!!!!!!!!!
