Hello all, I like to put grooves around the bottom on my hammers for added grip and was wondering if anyone has a good way to do it? As in having nice straight and uniform grooves all the way around. Thanks!

I don't do groves!!!!! but I use duck tap taped around the bottom1/4 ten wraps or so keeps me from loosing my hammer.

Yea I've used a die grinder before, but it doesn't give the wider groove I'm looking for

That's what iv been thinking, previously I've used a bench grinder but they don't look that great. I'm thinking about seeing if the hammers head will chuck up decent in the lathe and spinning it reeeeaaal slow

I do the same thing duck tape makes the best grip ever, better than groves ever thought of being I've used tape to fix hammers before too. I have a 2 1/2 pound sledge hammer and the head was loose so I grabbed a roll of duct tape and went back to pounding.

Scribe knife walls around the handle, then chisel in shallow V grooves to those lines, and follow up with a little sand paper to smooth it out.

Put the grinder in a vise, mark grooves with a pen, then carefully grind the grooves while holding the handle.
