Ground fault needed for lights in garage?

Wiring up my detached garage, I cant seem to find anything that says if a GFI is needed for the lighting or not? I know it is required for outlets.

If the lights are cord & plug connected then GFCI protection is required, otherwise no.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking.They will be hard wired.
