Ground rod at subpanel

I got a sub panel being run from the main pedestal protected by a 50 amp supplying only one 30 double pole breaker. Do I need to have a ground rod for this set up

Is the subpanel on a seperate structure?

If so, yes.

I put one in at a sub on my shop, separate structure...

Yup separated. It’s in a shed 5 feet from the home.

Yes you need a ground rod. Actually two if you cant prove resistance. Also isolate neutrals and grounds in the panel.
