Ground up cross-linked polyethylene as insulation?

I may have found a free source for this, seems like it might be an inexpensive way to insulate my shop if blown in or dumped in like cellulose. Any thoughts on it, or experience with this?

I would think it would be a fire hazard, not only from flames but from toxic smoke also . Bad idea I would think.

I would think it would eventually settle. you would end up with walls half full of compacted plastic. You want huge air spaces in the insulation to get full R value.

Blown into a foam is good. Ground makes me think of a dense powder with not much trapped air.
