I had one of them digging tunnels under my barn. They made their entrance where there was plant cover, and always dug at night. Removing their cover (stairs in this case, not permantenly of course) and having a light on will likely deter them from coming around. I have since removed all plant cover on the side of the barn, installed a new brigher yard light, and put down fox urine granuals. The smell of that **** is enough to keep damn near any critter at bay. Its been 2 months since any ground hog activity has taken place. Keep filing in the hole. It will agrivate them and also make them consider new locations to burrow.

Think I finally have cleared my yard and surrounding lots from those pesky diggers using a pellet gun. This year they were smarter somehow and stayed in the perimeter of my yard, so I started baiting them with sunflower seeds in a landscaped area close to the house (~20 ft from our MB deck)... coupled with a cheap motion sensor from HF, which made it easy. I have only seen one in the last couple weeks and this one refuses to come to the seeds :D

I bet somewhere in a rescue center there is a 75# + mixed breed dog in a cage that would love to share your home, and would keep the hogs away for you just to show his gratitude. jmo

I agree, dog sounds like your best bet with as many as you have gotten rid of and you keep getting more. I have a Great Pyrenees and he has eliminated all of my ground hog and raccoon problems. He has also been very successful at keeping away any unwanted intruders.

I've also heard about sitting out a dish with a little coca-cola in it and a few granules of fly bait. It's supposed to be extremely toxic to animals, so I guess it's imperitive to put it in a location where neighbor pets won't get into it.

That works awesome for racoons and possums but never heard of a ground hog ingesting it.
