Group Buy on Underhood Light?

I am interested in one of these, pending an appealing (not insane) price

Bull, do you have any idea as to what price you may be looking at if we get "X" amount of people to buy in? Just wondering what kind of discount you think you might be able to talk them into.

Well, in this case another member has taken it upon himself to contact a distributor I have not heard of before; he is pitching them the idea and they want to know about numbers of folks interested.

I can ask Jori what price he's willing to do. He gave me a price when this thread was new, but I don't know if that price still stands.

I thought the original price of 115 was good, so any less is even better. Also hoping around 80, though. would be cool.

The member who contacted me brought our number of interested parties to the distributor; I think at that point we were at around 25 people. They offered essentially zero discount off of their regular price.

Getting an American made one of these for under $100 seems a pipe dream.

Jori from Epstein's offered to match what ToolTopia used to have the light for; ToolTopia has since increased their price. I do not know if Jori's offer is still valid.

Thread made me look for one, best seems to be the Mountain from Tooltopia maybe via Amazon for free shipping if it isn't free at $88 from Tooltopia.

Its 39 watts, uses modern T5 high efficiency tubes, not made in USA, but likely from parts of the same origin as those that are.

Skipping for now, too close to BF sales, and I am OK with the assortment of work lights I have.

Not to hijack this thread but since it sounds like the deal is dead I just saw this from HF, http://www.harborfreight.com/120-led-rechargeable-under-hood-work-light-60793.html. I know it goes against the whole made in the US idea behind this thread but like someone else mentioned it doesn't look like a US made light can be had for under 100 bucks. This HF might be an option for some. I've been thinking about picking one up to try out for under 30 bucks it fits my budget right now.

Bull if you want to delete this for hijacking your thread that's fine. Just thought I would throw this out there as an option for some that want a light but are on a budget and can't afford over 100 bucks for a light, like myself!

From what I have been seeing lately, the mark up on lights are massive from truck brands.

If there's someone in Iowa near Cedar Rapids that wants one, I have a really nice one that I've owned for about a year and used one time...I'd be happy to give it a nice home....But I prefer to not have to ship it.

Welp I just ordered the same one BimmerTEK ordered. Same reason because it's brighter and cheaper than the other ones. I saw some pictures on ebay of someone selling it and it looks pretty solid..

I'll update and post pictures once I get it from tooltopia. Interesting enough if I ordered directly from their site I would have had to pay for shipping but getting it from amazon was free shipping...

Welp I got my light that bimmerTEK got as well.

Overall I really like this light, though not made in the USA the biggest thing to me was that it was 39 watts. It's nice and bright and seems to be a solid build quality.

I've attached some pictures. It tilts and angles to where you need light. The casing around the light is aluminum and it has a 25' power cord along with on/off switch. Both arms extend out which is nice, I only took a picture of one since I was holding it.

I can't believe I didn't get one of these sooner.... wow!

How are people storing these when not in use? Hanging them or putting in the top of their tool box?

Thanks,
-Nigel

Can the bulb on the Central Tools 13003 be replaced?

One reviewer of the National Electric 30025 mentioned that it is difficult to replace the bulb. That is, if true, a big drawback for me.
I just sent an e-mail to Tooltopia to see if they'd be willing to work with us on this.

I have the National Electric unit that you can add additional lights to it that I use on my Bendpak 4 post lift. Once I forgot to move one of the lights out of the way when letting the lift down, and I crunched it badly. I attempted to take it apart, and learned that it doesn't come apart easily for bulb changes. I did call the manufacturer, and they said that if I send it back, that they will "fix" it and return it to me. When I "pressed" for more info, I was told that they just replace them with new ones. If there is still interest, I can make a call on Monday to a friend to see if he can assist with a group buy for this item.
