Grouting Cut Edge

I know this isn't completely garage related but thought I'd ask since I know we have some tile guys on here.

Wife wants new tile in the hall. She found an 18"x18" ceramic tile she like. I found this attached image on a google search of the pattern I like.

Cutting the tile isn't the issue. I'm more concern on grouting the circled area. The edge will be square vs the factory rounded edge. How's the best way to grout this? Should I forget this idea as the edge would show too much because it is square(er) then the other edged?

you will ahve a cut edge on the mitered tile. it will match up to the cut edge on the strip along the edge. commercially this is done alot and not noticed, residential it may be more noticeable
I would not **** a factory edge to a cut edge there as it would be more noticeable I think

That's my concern. Wife likes the staggered layout, maybe I'll just go that route.

So your floor will be uneven? Not sure I'm getting what you mean, here is a you tube vid showing how to grout cut edge tile.

Pick up a rubbing stone at your tile supplier to ease the cut edge before setting the tile.

Cut the tile then hit with your angle grinder and a stone disk. I am in the trades and find this the easiest. I have seen folks do it other ways that make me wonder how they can even drive a car.

That works well, if the tile is colorset the whole way through...otherwise you will have a color showing after knocking the cut edge down...may or may not be a color your grout will like, or your wife will like.

better quality tile, if you have not bought yet, are colorset the whole way through.

I feel you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. I sold tiles and have done my own work and have also seen many jobs done by tile setters. And I must say that the tile setters don't do anything special to the cut parts of the tile. 1st of all the fact that you are adding a design to your floor I believe people will be admiring your design more than looking at the cut edges. If it really bothers you, put cut edges together facing each other and the factory edge opposite the cut edges. I must admit I am a little OCD and do put cut edges facing each other BUT sometimes it is IMPOSSIBLE.

I have worked for the Canadian equivalent of COUNTRY FLOORS and I must say I have seen quality work as well as garbage by some tile setters.
