Grungy looking overhead doors - how to clean?

My two 10x10 overheads are in need of cleaning. Hitting them with water does next to nothing. I tried a few things I had kicking around for regular household use, but they won't get the grinding/welding/diesel/smoke "grunge" off.

What are you using to keep them clean? It might be easier to just paint them, but I'd prefer to try cleaning first!

Industrial alkaline degreaser does wonders. I had to clean a overhead door that had several years of welding smoke and grime and that was the only thing that removed it.

HELL YEA Super clean is what I use, that stuff work real good.

I tried simple green on mine and it did not do as I needed but it did get them ready for paint.

If it appears to be that smokey film that nothing removes give this stuff a try. It cleans hard oxidation and black streaking like nothing Ive ever seen.
