I've been in the process of finishing out the interior of my slightly oversize 2 car detached garage and with some help over the course of three weekends with my dad we completed the best mod yet - a custom lean to shed. After lots of deliberation and test fitting all the yard stuff, amount of workable space in the yard and setback issues, I decided to build to my own dimensions and height - 6 deep by 8 long just under 8' tall in the back with roof slope to match my garage.

My dad helped out immensely and we framed it in late February, roofed and sided it in April and just this past week he came down to Dallas and helped finish the doors and got it all painted. We built it in the backyard about 3 ft out from the garage and laid it on two 1x3s so we could eventually side it back under the eve of the garage and use my car jacks to set it on the footings we had prepared. Today a good friend came over and helped push it back and get it set on concrete blocks.

Anyway - here's some pics. I am so pumped about this.

All in for just over $750 in materials and its way overbuilt with 3/4 plywood for the roof, doors and floor and used Cedarmill hardisiding for the exterior. After about a month to let it fully settle, I am going to relevel and then finalize the adjustment on the doors and install a lock.

Very nice. It's great to have a place to put the yard stuff.

(Nice to fit a compressor in there, too.)

good job! i agree, should've made that bigger! i wish i had the room to do this. behind my garage is a full length masonry planter, that i don't even use. maybe one day i'll demo it and build something like that. or extend the garage out.
