I have a guardsman door knob on my front door. How do I remove it? The screws are behind a cover plate, there is no slot to press a tab to remove the knob, and the screw plate doesnt twist off.
Not familiar with this Brand, but if there is a retainer hole, you need to have the operating key in the lock, turn to retract the latch then press in on the retainer and pull the knob off. To replace, with key in knob in the 12 o'clock position push knob onto chassis then retract latch with key, depress retainer and push knob on making sure the retainer engages.
Hope this helps!

I'll be damned, the escutcheon plate. Never heard that term. Very nice descript. Next time I change a lock, someone is going to punch me in the mouth. My vocabulary is getting bigger since membership @ GJ.
I have seen some locks where the hole to release the inner knob is hidden by the lip of the rose/cover plate. Try pulling the inner knob away from the door and look carefully for the hole (while maintaining the pulling pressure). Sometimes that will work. Cheers.
You might need to put your key in the lock in order to get the knob to turn the right way and release. I see you do not have a key, I would try to pick it first, if not, drill it.
